Pastel, Paper

My intention was to combine drawing, sculpture and my love of nature in Lou. I devised a process: first walking in nature, then making a drawing of what I absorbed - sanding the layers of pastel, returning to charcoal, and sanding again until the surface started to have a texture much like chunks from a canyon wall, or swirls on the surface of a pond. I cut the drawings into 1 " squares, hole-punched each square, and attached each square to the wall, dangling on a nail. The hole-punched paper dots were sprinkled on the floor.
